Using a two-prong opener for old wine
Deux Dents has two narrow blades rather than a spiral. Slide the longer and then shorter blade gently along the cork's edges, alternating sides. Once seated, twist carefully while slowly lifting the cork. Stop if it crumbles or if the bottle neck seems damaged. The technique takes practice, and no opener can guarantee an intact cork.
Which opener suits an older cork?
The two-blade design avoids piercing the cork. To compare it with a model that also includes a spiral, see the Élitaire 2-in-1 opener. Choose according to the cork's condition.

Description
More about the Deux Dents wine opener
The Deux Dents by Mémoire is a 2-prong wine opener with two slim steel blades. It removes a cork from the outside, without having to twist a spiral into it. This technique is particularly interesting for older wine bottles where the natural cork has become fragile or brittle. The opener comes in a gift box.
Opener for vintage wines
The Deux Dents is specifically suitable as an opener for vintage wines with a fragile or brittle natural cork. The two blades grip the cork from the outside, so that no spiral needs to be twisted through the center of the cork.
Why choose a 2-prong opener?
A corkscrew with a spiral concentrates the pulling force in the center of the cork. The two blades of the Deux Dents slide on either side between the cork and the bottle neck. By gripping the cork from the outside, you can remove it with a gentle twisting motion.
Avoiding an extra opening in the cork can be beneficial for a fragile cork. It remains a technique that requires some practice. A heavily dried-out or damaged cork can still crumble, and too much downward pressure can push the cork into the bottle. Therefore, take your time and do not force anything.
How to use the Deux Dents
- Remove the foil and ensure the bottle is standing firmly and upright.
- First, carefully slide the longer blade between the cork and the neck.
- Then insert the shorter blade on the other side. Use small rocking motions to let both blades slide further down along the cork.
- Hold the bottle still and pull the cork up slowly while carefully twisting the opener.
Clean the blades after use and dry the opener before placing it back in the box. With dimensions of 11.2 × 2.1 × 0.5 cm and a weight of 135 grams, it is compact to store with your other wine accessories.
Deux Dents or Élitaire?
The Deux Dents works exclusively with two blades. The Élitaire wine openercombines blades with a spiral for additional grip. Which technique you choose depends on the bottles you open and your experience.

Explanation of use
Opening a bottle of wine seems simple, but each opener has its own technique and purpose. Using the right tool protects the cork and preserves the quality of the wine.
The waiter's knife
The classic and most widely used opener — compact, precise and reliable.
- Cut the capsule below the edge of the neck.
- Place the spiral in the center of the cork.
- Use the two-step lever to smoothly pull the cork.
A favorite of sommeliers for the craftsmanship and control it offers.
The two dent opener
Designed for older wines with a brittle cork.
- First slide the longer blade, then the shorter blade along the cork.
- Gently rock the opener back and forth.
- Pull up slowly while holding the bottle still.
The cork remains intact — ideal for bottles that have been resting for years.
The Elite Opener
An advanced opener that combines the best of both worlds.
- Place the opener on the cork and carefully twist the spiral.
- First slide the longer blade, then the shorter blade along the cork.
- Pull upwards with a gentle, circular motion; the cork will come out straight and undamaged.
This method offers maximum control, even with delicate or rare wines.

FAQ
What's the best way to open a wine bottle?
Use an opener appropriate for the type of wine and the condition of the cork. Always work slowly and straight to prevent the cork from breaking or falling into the bottle.
What is the difference between a waiter's knife, a deux dent opener, and an Élitaire opener?
- A waiter's cork is versatile and suitable for almost any bottle. This wine opener also always has an integrated serrated blade and a crown cork opener.
- A deux dent opener is used for old bottles with fragile corks.
- The Elite opener combines both technologies for maximum control and safety.
When do I use a deux dent opener?
In wines that have aged for a long time, the cork can become brittle. The deux dent opener removes the cork without piercing it, minimizing the risk of breakage.
What makes the Elite opener special?
The Elite opener uses both a spiral and two thin pins. This keeps the cork stable, even in older or difficult-to-open bottles. The movement is controlled and effortless—ideal for those who value precision.
Do I need different openers?
Not necessarily. For young wines, a waiter's knife will suffice, but if you frequently open older bottles, a deux dent or Élitaire opener are valuable additions.

Wonderful
Prachtige glazen, heel stijlvol!
